Just Fun Stamping

Work of Art for Rainbow RRCB Challenge

Today’s Retro Rubber challenge #67 is all about rainbows and/or rainbow colors.  That ended up being quite a challenge since I don’t own any rainbow stamp images!  I started collecting my rainbow colors and explored my stash of stamps.  Then I remembered a “texture” image from the Works of Art stamp set.  By stamping the same image in the chosen colors, I had hoped to “make” my own end of the rainbow. This stamp set is from Stampin’ Up!’s annual catalog issued in 2014.

Work of Art, On Your Birthday, Stampin' Up!

After the colors were stamped, I used the “Softly Falling” textured impressions embossing folder to provide the raindrops that lend to rainbows.  The “Happy Birthday” is a current die cut in Stampin’ Up!’s catalog.  I cut it from Sahara Sand cardstock, sponged it with the same ink and then sparkled the die cut with clear Wink of Stella.  The sentiments “let’s celebrate” and “wishing you the HAPPIEST birthday yet” are from a set that was introduced in the 2008 Fall Winter catalog by Stampin’ Up!.  Coordinating baker’s twine, enamel dots, and our new gold faceted gems provide the extra bling.

Guidelines for a Retro Rubber Challenge Blog challenge entry…
  • One of your stamps must be at least one year old.
  • You must tell us how long you have had the stamp or its age.
  • Do not link your new project to more than 9 additional challenges.

Remember, the primary purpose for this blog challenge is to use and breathe life into our older stash of stamp sets. Many of these are retired and unavailable for purchase except through individuals who wish to sell their retired stamp sets. These stamps were purchased originally because there was something in the set that spoke to our heart. You can give them a chance to speak once again.

RRCB # 67 sketch challenge starts today and ends on July 28th.  Have you been by the challenge blog to see my teammates inspiration projects?  Come on by! We are so looking forward to seeing you in our gallery.

I know that I did not give many details so please let me know if you have any questions.

Have fun stamping,

Katy

I’ve always associated good luck with rainbows and who doesn’t want good luck on their birthday. With that in mind this has to be the perfect birthday card.

I like the way you’ve embossed the rainbow panel. The extra dimension really adds something. Good on you for having so many colours of twine too!

Katy, this is the perfect rainbow! Love the way that you created this card and goes to show that you do not have to own every image to participate in a challenge! What an ingenious idea and so fun! Thanks for sharing and inspiring us- hugs!
