A Catty Case for Balloon Celebration

Balloon CelebrationI chose two cards to CASE from the Occasions catalog to help showcase the wonderful images in Balloon Celebration.  These two cards are shown on page 13.  My cards are not an exact CASE but are close enough.

This stamp set comes only in photopolymer stamps.  This makes it easy enough to match the inside decorative images to the balloon outline as well as the ties.  Did you know that Stampin’ Up! uses photopolymer in many punch and framelit bundles because there is less shrinkage with photopolymer medium compared to red rubber?  Therefore the cut of the punch or framelit matches to the stamped image much more closely.  Interesting, huh?

Balloon CelebrationFor this particular card, I loved taking the tie for “let us celebrate” and splitting it into two ties for both balloons.  The Blushing Bride balloons were achieved by stamping off once for the balloon outline and fully inked for the decorative inside.  The clouds were more challenging.  I finally got the result that I wanted by stamping off the Smoky Slate ink twice and Pool Party ink once.  Using the triple punch for adding details to the top two corners as well as using “It’s My Party Enamel Dots” (incidentally these colors are Mint Macaron and Melon Mambo, a nice complement to the Pool Party and Blushing Bride) provided the look that I was seeking.

Balloon CelebrationBalloon CelebrationFor the second CASE’d card, the stamped balloon images on the card base and additional punched balloons provide lots of dimension.  I added a few more balloons than the original card as well as the sweet Bow Paper Clip embellishment.  The inside of this card reveals my fascination for the lovely dandelion card (bottom right card on the same page).  It appears to have used the emboss resist technique.  Knowing that the dandelion is built from multiple applications of the two sizes of dandelion flower, I decided against the embossed images for this particular card.  Instead, I inked the dandelion images in Pool Party and built the dandelion flower with careful placement of the images.

The stamp set and punch are available in a bundle purchase that will save you 15% over the individual purchases of both items.  The bundle product number 140810 is sold for $37.25.  If you add a package of enamel dots (140554), honeycomb embellishments (140566) and bow paper clips (140559), your purchase would qualify for one Sale-A-Bration product.  What would I choose from the SAB catalog?  Either Perfect Pairings (great sentiments) or Honeycomb Happiness (love that adorable chick and the ice cream cone… perfect for the honeycomb embellishments)!

I hope you have not overlooked this sweet bundle in the Occasions catalog.  These samples show you how easy it is to use the images to make fun and festive cards.

Don’t forget about the earlier announcement on the January 10th post.  To help celebrate the Sale-A-Bration period, I am giving a set of 6″x6″ Wildflower Fields designer series paper plus the What I Love photopolymer stamp set at the beginning of February.  What do you need to do?  Just make a comment on any (or all) January posts.  I will choose a random winner on February 1st.  You must be able to provide a US mailing address to receive my gift.

Have fun stamping,

Katy
