Another Great Year for Retro Rubber

Are you ready for a new Retro Rubber challenge?  You will love this one! After all, who doesn’t love birthdays!  We were blown away last week with so many lovely heart entries.  You made it so difficult to select our top picks!  Hopefully this popular theme will bring lots more inspiration from you.  Please remember that we are a “retro rubber” challenge.  We ask that you do use at least one stamp image that is one year or older (additional elements may be as old or as recent as you wish!).  And, we ask that you let us know how old the stamp is or at least how long that you have had it.  Keep your additional challenges to no more than 9 and you are eligible to be included in our top picks at the end of the challenge.  We are off to Another Great Year with RRCB #56.

Another Great Year, Birthday, Stampin' Up!

My plan this year is to actually send many of the cards that I make to my family and friends.  My cards in past years were primarily “hand deliver only.”  That meant waiting until I saw them!  Although I am late to the theory that “happy mail”  (also known as “snail mail”) provides a degree of happiness to the recipient, I am fully on board!

This birthday card is intended for a male friend.  It feels lacking in embellishments, but most guys really don’t identify with lots of embellishments.  Just give them “the meat”!  I do love the Tasty Treats specialty designer series paper from Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions catalog this year.  I combined 4 of them in this card!

Did you notice the candles in the inside sentiment?  The coloring was done with a Wink of Stella gold pen.  It had been awhile since I used it.  It provided mixed results that I actually ended up liking.  Lesson learned… just go with the flow!

Guidelines for a Retro Rubber Challenge Blog challenge entry…
  • The stamp must be at least one year old,
  • You must tell us how long you have had the stamp or its age.
  • Do not link your new project to more than 9 additional challenges.

Remember, the primary purpose for this blog challenge is to use and breathe life into our older stash of stamp sets. Many of these are retired and unavailable for purchase except through individuals who wish to sell their retired stamp sets. These stamps were purchased originally because there was something in the set that spoke to our heart. You can give them a chance to speak once again.  And speaking of retired older sets, please take a look at my retired sets for sale.  You just might find something that speaks to you.

RRCB # 56 color inspiration challenge starts today and ends on February 24th.  Have you been by the challenge blog to see my teammates inspiration projects?  Come on by.  We are so looking forward to seeing you in our gallery.

If you have any questions about my project, please let me know by comment or email.

Have fun stamping,

Hello Katy: Cards for men are very hard to make, at least for me, I love flowers and cute little critters but, this are not elements a manly man would appreciate so, I’m always on the hunt for fabulous masculine cards, just like yours today.
Love the big sentiment and all the colors and combination of pattern papers but the clincher is that adorable little cupcake, just very unassuming but delivering the perfect amount of sweetness to the card, your friend definitely will appreciate and love it.
I always finish the inside of my cards, this really saves time when I mail them. And you are right, Happy Mail AKA “Snail Mail”, is fabulous to send and even more fun to receive, your friends and family will be thrilled to find a handmade card made by you in their mail box.
    Awesome card, my dear.
    Happy Valentine’s Day.
    PS. Off to pinning!!!!!

I think absolutely anyone would love this card, male or female. Adam’s wife has taught me that not all women are girly, so don’t think this card is missing any details. Not only is it “just right” there’s a lot to be really appreciated. Large sentiments are perfect for cards like this so this one is staying in my stash for just that reason. Love it!!

This is totally a perfect card for a Male Katy. My hubby would love this, he is off the less embellishment mindset. I love the giant sentiment stamp..I might need to borrow that 😉 I love to send stuff in the post, hubby says I keep USPS in business. Clairex

What a great card with the huge sentiment to embellish the front of the card. The layering makes for a very lovely card. I do agree with the “give them the meat” idea, that would be my DH and male relatives as well!

Love your card, that color combo rocks! I also do not send cards. I think I collect them! I think I also need to try cganging this! Your stamp is great and that stripe of color is so fun! So glad to be with RR for another fun year!
