Darlene is our host for the new challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters. She chose the theme “One for the Ladies.” This theme could go in several different directions, and it will be so much fun to see which interpretation you give it. I don’t have very many “lady” stamp images, however, Beautiful You by Stampin’ Up! definitely suits the theme!
This card uses a Splitcoaststampers tutorial/template called Vertical 5 Step Card. The instructions can be obtained at this link. It has been awhile since I used an unusual card fold (other than my most favorite Easel Card). So I thought this would be a great opportunity. The fun part of this card fold is that different designer papers can be showcased. I decided to cut my main designer paper pieces in the same pattern as the card fold. However, adding vertical strips would be fun and so much easier…. take my word on that!
Although I used my Copic sketch markers to color the Beautiful You lady, the Stampin’ Up! blends also would work well. My shading was accomplished using a light blue alcohol color as an under painting. Prismacolor colored pencils were added to the image for more depth. There is a light gray shadow on the right and bottom sides. Had I thought of it before coloring the lady, it would have been a more obvious shadow. However, I had already added colored pencil and did not want to ruin my Copic markers by getting too close nor by giving it a second coat.
