Happy Home for Paper Players 279

pp279Happy HomeNance Leedy inspired me to play along over at the Paper Players challenge blog with her sketch.  I had in mind to do some layering of the images included in the Happy Home stamp set introduced this year in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog.  The scenes are so spring-like and relaxing.  It won’t be terribly long before we can fly kites in the Atlanta area!  The layering did not work out quite the way I envisioned.  However, I will play along, albeit at the last minute.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Happy Home
  • Papers:  Lost Lagoon, Shimmery White cardstocks; Wildflower Fields DSP (SAB catalog), retired Lost Lagoon DSP
  • Inks:  Black Staz On, Old Olive, Lost Lagoon, Calypso Coral, Wink of Stella clear Glitter BrushT
  • Tools:  Ovals Collection Framelits, Triple Banner punch, Envelope Framelits
  • Accessories:  Old Olive bakers twine

Just a little watercoloring was required to finish the different scene images from Happy Home.  I used the clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to provide the illusion of clouds around the kite.  The Wildflower Fields designer series paper is featured in this year’s Sale-A-Bration catalog.  I love the bright colors and patterns!

Don’t forget about the earlier announcement on the January 10th post.  To help celebrate the Sale-A-Bration period, I am giving a set of 6″x6″ Wildflower Fields designer series paper plus the What I Love photopolymer stamp set at the beginning of February.  What do you need to do?  Just make a comment on any (or all) January posts.  I will choose a random winner on February 1st.  You must be able to provide a US mailing address to receive my gift.

Have fun stamping,

This card was chosen as the Headliner by Nance Leedy…  thank you so much!!

You are the best at making beautiful scenic cards, Katy! I love all of the little details – especially the little kite flying from behind the tree! So cute!! I had to have this stamp set but it hasn’t made its way onto the craft table yet – you have inspired me to do so. I would say my usual “off to pin” but the card was so good that I pinned it immediately! LOL

What a sweet card Katy – I love the layering you used to create your pretty scene and like Debbie, I love the way the kite flies behind the tree. The pops of bright colour from your dsp also add visual interest to the layers. Great job – thanks so much for joining us over at The Paper Players this week!

Great card, Katy. I love making a scene, too (LOL)! I really enjoy a card that tells a story and all the little details you added brings it to a happy conclusion! I’m ready to fly that kite now!

So precious, Katy. It is such a realistic scene, boy flying kite and going behind tree, is so very clever. Bench and clouds are perfect. Watercolor, I guess I could go on and on. In short it is TERRIFIC and another great artistic card. Love it!

Katy, this is adorable! I absolutely adore the way you’ve used the sketch–especially how the kite continues behind the tree panel. The background stamping, the colors, it’s all wonderfully detailed! I am so glad you played along with my sketch at The Paper Players!
