It is time for a new Retro Rubber Challenge and this one is all about flowers and Spring! Here in Atlanta we have had days of Spring and then days of Summer. You may not know that Spring generally does not last long in this area, but when we have it, it is glorious! I chose Happiness Shared for this challenge because of the sentiment.
This stamp set was introduced by Stampin’ Up! in their 2010 annual catalog. There are 4 total images in the stamp set, 2 that I used for the card and the other 2 for the envelope. I stamped the larger flower, colored it with alcohol markers and fussy cut. It might not show as the focal point, but isn’t that what Spring flowers are all about? Not the big showy blooms of summer, but the cheeky faces of wildflowers, spring bulbs or the first blossoms of roses.
The stamp set may be retro but there were lots of new products used while making this card. The die cut for the card center was given to me as a birthday present from my sister Debbie. It is not Stampin’ Up! so I would not have seen this lovely die on my own. The top cardstock is a new In Color called Tranquil Tide. The center of the die cut flower is a new embellishment called Gold Faceted Gems. I used our new Copper trim to make the bow. Delightful Daisy is a new designer series paper incorporating some of the new In Colors. All of these new products will be available June 1st with the new catalog release by Stampin’ Up!
By the way, you don’t see enough of the inside to realize that there is another new die cut that Debbie gave me. It is a set of dog images. This one is a Scottie that I shortened the tail so that it would remind me more of my beloved Miniature Schnauzers. You will be seeing more of these “doggy images” in cards to come….
Guidelines for a Retro Rubber Challenge Blog challenge entry…
- One of your stamps must be at least one year old.
- You must tell us how long you have had the stamp or its age.
- Do not link your new project to more than 9 additional challenges.
Remember, the primary purpose for this blog challenge is to use and breathe life into our older stash of stamp sets. Many of these are retired and unavailable for purchase except through individuals who wish to sell their retired stamp sets. These stamps were purchased originally because there was something in the set that spoke to our heart. You can give them a chance to speak once again.
RRCB # 62 color inspiration challenge starts today and ends on May 19th. Have you been by the challenge blog to see my teammates inspiration projects? Come on by! We are so looking forward to seeing you in our gallery.
If you have any questions about my project, please let me know by comment or email.
Have fun stamping,
PS… If you are wondering about my lack of blog posts recently, I want to share that there are challenges that I am currently facing. I am reorganizing my daily routine to schedule in the moments that must be handled and to give myself more time to enjoy the special moments. I hope to be sharing more inspiration, more often, very soon.
