Lilypad Lake is a “wading bird” based stamp set released by Stampin’ Up! but with its own set of die cuts. This bird reminds me of the blue heron seen wading in the stream behind my house as well as the abundant white egrets during my Florida trips. Over the past several years, the flamingo has been a popular home decor image. It is only natural that another wading bird is depicted in a serene setting of water and lily pads.
I chose this stamp set to provide the basis of images for a color challenge. Specifically it is for Color Dare #311. This challenge requires the card be based on colors similar to the CTMH color palette of Peacock, Saffron and Ballerina. I used Bermuda Bay to satisfy the peacock color in a past challenge. The other colors seemed closely related to Stampin’ Up!’s colors So Saffron and Powder Pink. Since neutral colors can be included, I added Smoky Slate and Whisper White to the mix.
- Stamp Set: Lilypad Lake
- Papers: Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, So Saffron, Smoky Slate, Whisper White and Watercolor paper
- Inks: Smoky Slate, Powder Pink, Bermuda Bay
- Tools & Accessories: Lakeside Framelits Dies, Hardwood textured embossing folder, ribbon and twine from the stash
The watercolor paper behind the Bermuda Bay water die cut contains splashes of diluted inks (Bermuda Bay, Powder Pink & even So Saffron). It’s unfortunate the photos do not capture the teases of color behind the die cuts. The lily pad was colored using similar hues of Pablo color pencils.
I would very much like to thank the Color Dare designer team for their sweet comments on my entry for the #309 color challenge. It was the first time playing along with them, and they were so encouraging.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have fun stamping,
