Pals February Blog Hop: Sharing our Love!

Welcome to the Pals February Blog Hop. This month we are excited to share with you what we love about Stampin’ Up! – our stamps, tools, accessories and techniques. You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Linda Callahan at  Stampin’ Seasons, number 7 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Perfect Pennants, Building Block Card Fold, Katy McGloin

This project was inspired from the latest Splitcoaststampers tutorial regarding the “Building Block Card”.  I love different style cards and this one was right up my alley.  I have a sweet friend to whom I wanted to send a special “Get Well” card and this format fit perfectly!  The link to the tutorial can be found here.  However, the cuts and scores are only the beginning…  I had so much fun finishing the various sections of the card.  I wish I could show you all of the unappealing attempts that I made along the way, but that would be discouraging… not what I want to convey to you.  In the end, a colorful cardstock base was my most-est (my husband’s favorite expression!) favorite beginning.  Building on top of that was ever so cool! What were the special tools involved in this project?  A Stampin’ Trimmer was very important!  It provided the correct cutting and scoring alignment necessary for this type of card.  If you read the tutorial, it does suggest that you do the cutting on the valley fold “up-side down”… that does actually help!  My most favorite tool is, of course, the Big Shot!!  This project utilized the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die, the Arrows TIEF and Chalk Talk Frame-lits. Additional accessories include Essentials Wooden Elements, Kaleidoscope DSP, In Color Boutique Details Buttons and Whisper White Baker’s Twine.  These products are shown at the end of this post and will allow you to shop immediately by selecting the desired supplies.

Wow, Katy! I’m surprised you made such a simple and colorless project for the hop. 🙂 This is absolutely, blow-my-mind incredible. SO MUCH TIME went into this, and that makes it super-special. Nice job!

This is incredible Katy. You need to have a class on this. Love the colors and the retro feel to it. Your talent never ceases to amaze me!

Katy, this is such a happy card! So much detail! Your friend will definitely be cheered up when she receives it. And thank you for showing us this new type of card. Many of us will be casing this!!
