PPA #232 is Bright & Beautiful

Bright and Beautiful is the season that is upon us!  What are your plans for this holiday season?  Of course there is always the seemingly never ending journey to provide the perfect gift to a loved one…  festive parties and sweet family gatherings… cooking and baking… decorating and more decorating of tables… and the list goes on!  My more vintage years are producing a longing for simplicity.  I am beginning to understand my mother’s desire for “less is more” with decorating.  Is this a new twist for me or just a reflection of where I am THIS season… only time will tell.

Bright & Beautiful, Occasions Sneak PeekThe sketch challenge for PPA 232 has so many fun layers in it to help you to differentiate, coordinate and accent images, papers and embellishments.

This card contains sneak peeks of new products offered in the upcoming Occasions catalog.  The designer series paper (has “joy” attached to it) is called Stacked with Love.  It contains a variety of patterns in Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Real Red and Whisper White with a Basic Black and Whisper White reverse side design.  Very cool!!  The Bermuda Bay sequin trim is a gorgeous accent.  The ribbon behind the Bermuda Bay baker’s twine is called White Jute Ribbon.  It is 1-1/4″ wide.  I pulled several threads from each side, left the wispies and folded the removed threads into the bakers twine bow.  This is the second project where I added the Something Borrowed embellishment.  Love, love, love that sparkle!!

Love this card Katy! The Bermuda Bay and Crisp Cantilope color scheme is unusual but oh so pretty. I can’t tell by looking at the picture what method you used to make the big star. Is it silver heat embossed on Pool Party card stock or Pool Party heat embossed on silver paper? What stamp did you use?

Katy, this card has a rustic charm that I don’t think I’ve seen executed this well before. The large star looks like it could have been cut from an antique tin ceiling tile. The Something Borrowed embellishment reminds me of one SU had in last year’s Holiday catalog that I loved. Hopefully you can tell that I think your card is simply beautiful.

Katy, I have not simplified my decorating as I need all the decorations to make it seems like Christmas here in Florida. However I am simplifying my gift giving. Your card is beautiful with all the special details and textures. Have a joy filled Christmas!

Wowzers!! How have you created something that I consider vintage, while at the same time it’s crisp and rusticated-sparkly, too?? Beautiful!

OK, as requested, I waited till the card arrived to come to your blog and see your post. WOW, WOW, WOW!! So worth the wait!! I love everything about this card! Absolutely impossible to classify it and that is what I love about it most. I always know that an envelope in the mailbox with “Katy McGloin” as the sender is going to be a joy to behold and I was even more joyous today! Absolutely stunning, Katy! Thank you so much!! I do truly hope you had a joy-filled holiday and think your “less is more” idea is a good one (more time for crafting!). Love you!

Absolutely beautiful! Love all the layers, texture and color choices. I’d be interested to know how you achieved the patina on the large star. I have an idea, but would love to know your process.
