Just Fun Stamping

PPA 283 Color Challenge Helping Me Grow

PPA-283-Jan14I hope you have been playing along with the new PPA challenge format that started just last week!    Our featured artist is the one and only FAB Brian King.  He has chosen the color combination displayed on the left.  The Color Team (that includes me) has some nifty project inspiration to tickle your fancy in hopes that you will play along with us this week.

Helping Me GrowI just recently purchased the stamp set Helping Me Grow from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions catalog.  I love the two large flowers in this stamp set as well as the font used with the word images.  The sunflower type flower reminds me of Cosmos.  It also reminds me of Coreopsis and Rudbeckia.  Are you a gardener?  What flower does this image remind you of?

Using Jet Black StazOn ink, the image was stamped onto Glossy White cardstock.  Even though Stampin’ Up! no longer carries this cardstock, you could easily substitute glossy photo paper.  I love the way the ink adheres to glossy paper… it glides!  I masked the inside of the panel and sponged Mint Marcaron ink around the edges.  Using the “C” image from Timeless Texture and Sahara Sand ink, I randomly applied the image after stamping off once for each.  Then the flower was colored with Melon Mambo ink using a blendability pen.  I added clear Wink of Stella to the flower tips… it did not photograph well.

The glossy panel was adhered to Melon Mambo cardstock and then to designer series paper from Everyday Chic.  The card was finished by adding the Mint Macaron 1″ Dotted Lace Trim, a small tag and applying it to a Whisper White card base.  Since the card was a bit larger than a standard A2 size, of course I had to make my own envelope.  I just love the Envelope Punch Board.  It’s a snap to make whatever size you need!

So, what project would you make using these colors?  Give it a try and come by the PPA challenge blog to upload to our gallery.  We would love for you to play along.

Don’t forget about the earlier announcement on the January 10th post.  To help celebrate the Sale-A-Bration period, I am giving a set of 6″x6″ Wildflower Fields designer series paper plus the What I Love photopolymer stamp set at the beginning of February.  What do you need to do?  Just make a comment on any (or all) January posts.  I will choose a random winner on February 1st.  You must be able to provide a US mailing address to receive my gift.

Have fun stamping,

The color challenge was meant for this stamp set and you proved it without any doubt! This stamp set hasn’t made it into my stash yet but you have made it go to the top of my list that I will be ordering in another week or so! Absolutely gorgeous!

I like the brilliance of your colors in your card! The irregular framing via Mint Macaroon just outside of the flower arrangement make your card unique to me. It enhances the transition of the dotted Basic Black frame to the flower arrangement. Was that free form? I appreciate your comments on my PPA283 entries in Pinterest. Yes, PowerPoint has become very interesting. My appreciation of card design will continue to evolve. Thank you!

Brent, I am going to take your comment regarding free form as a compliment… I cannot free form anything recognizable, LOL. Thanks for your kind comments!

Katy, I am a little late reading all my emails and blog posts, so I just got to yours.. This is a STUNNING creation! I love every element. The masking around to create that free form frame is perfect. The addition of the “C’s” is equally perfect. Your coloring is great and the little tag is adorable! I must make this one, or something like it. What an inspiration you are! Thank you for sharing! Hugs
