Just Fun Stamping

Summer Solstice for RRCB 65 Sketch Challenge

RRCB 65OMGosh, the last challenge “Anything Goes” gave us quite a challenge to pick the top five cards!  Everyone had their favorites and there were so many ties.  Although the selection was made, please know there were many additional cards that we would have liked to recognize. This newest challenge is a great sketch that could feature so many images and details.  So, please take a look, bring out your supplies and link up your creative ideas to our gallery.  The only other stipulation is that your project must contain an image that is at least one year old. That shouldn’t be too difficult… most of us have stamps in our stash that meet the age requirement!

Summer Solstice, Stampin' Up!Summer Solstice stamp set was introduced by Stampin’ Up! in the 2011 annual catalog.  It contains 3 floral images and 2 sentiments that I absolutely love!  Although the images are “retro” in this card, so many of the details are brand new!  The card base is one of our newest In Colors called Tranquil Tide.  Lemon Lime Twist, another new In Color, shows up in the banner detail as well as the new ombre ribbon.  I love the effect of the textured embossing folder Garden Trellis on the Very Vanilla cardstock.  So Saffron provides the subtle yellow cardstock layer.

Summer Solstice, Stampin' Up!The images from Summer Solstice were colored, fussy cut and sparkled with clear and gold Wink of Stella. A gold Faceted Gem and Rhinestone jewels provide the finishing touches.  The designer series paper on the top half of the card is from Delightful Daisy.  This paper series has gorgeous color combinations and details as shown on page 189 of the current year’s catalog.

Guidelines for a Retro Rubber Challenge Blog challenge entry…
  • One of your stamps must be at least one year old.
  • You must tell us how long you have had the stamp or its age.
  • Do not link your new project to more than 9 additional challenges.

Remember, the primary purpose for this blog challenge is to use and breathe life into our older stash of stamp sets. Many of these are retired and unavailable for purchase except through individuals who wish to sell their retired stamp sets. These stamps were purchased originally because there was something in the set that spoke to our heart. You can give them a chance to speak once again.

RRCB # 65 sketch challenge starts today and ends on June 30th.  Have you been by the challenge blog to see my teammates inspiration projects?  Come on by! We are so looking forward to seeing you in our gallery.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  My blog is undergoing some changes which has made the contact page difficult to receive.  If you do have any comments or questions, please leave me a comment.

Have fun stamping,

Beautiful card Katy! I love your take on the sketch. The embossing is a nice touch the your card and I love the flower and butterfly and the embellishments you used and the sentiment is perfect on your card. Love all the new items from SU! Thanks for the inspiration.

This stamp set predates my knowledge of Stampin Up – or even stamping – and I feel quite envious. It looks like it was a great set as you’ve shown it off. As a reader and librarian, I’m always interested in stamps that quote authors but the images are so lovely too. You’re always so clever at mixing old and new. Love the way you’ve layered the sentiment strip.

gorgeous card Katy, I love the layers and the flashes of bright yellow and green. I really love the sentiment too, so very true. I just went and did a different kind of craft class and I met some truly extraordinary people. Cx

So many lovely details on your pretty card ! That new lemon lime twist color reminds me of an old color SU! had when I first started back in early 2000.
